The Cheek Lift Restores a Youthful and Beautiful Look

Published on August 15, 2019

The face is perhaps the most noticeable part of anybody. It also happens to be the first area to reflects one’s age. Due to factors like pollution, dietary habits, and stress, most people suffer from premature signs of aging on their faces. Signs of aging usually include wrinkles, jowls, and sagging skin on the cheeks and the neck.

These signs are a result of the body’s reduced ability to produce collagen protein, which causes the skin to become lax as we age. The formation of surplus fatty deposits also contributes to visual signs of aging.

These inevitable symptoms can be corrected in order to restore a youthful, beautiful look to your face. The way to do this is through a cheek lift and a neck lift.

More often than not, patients pair these two procedures together in order to yield comprehensive results. Through the cheek lift and the neck lift, Dr. Jeffords helps patients achieve a naturally more youthful-looking face.

What Is a Cheek Lift?

A cheek lift, also known as a mid-facelift, is a surgical procedure that restores the appearance of fullness to the cheeks and the eye areas.

It can be done in different ways. Incisions can be made either on the upper gums, at the temple at the hairline, or even on the lower eyelids. This decision will be made based on where exactly the skin needs to be lifted.

After incisions are made, the underlying tissues are tightened and excess tissue is removed. Since the procedure is less invasive than a full facelift, it is generally performed under local anesthesia with sedation. It requires a very short healing period that ranges from a few days to a couple of weeks.

What Is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift, also known as a lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that gives the appearance of a smoother, more contoured, and younger-looking neck, chin, and jawline.

Like a cheek lift, there are different ways in which a neck lift can be done. Dr. Jeffords generally decides this based on factors such as the level of sagging, the budget of the patient, and the desired outcome of the surgery.

Generally, it is performed by tightening the tissues in the neck region. After incisions are created, sagging excess skin from the neck and chin is removed, as is excess fat. Internal sutures are used to tighten drooping muscles.

After the Procedures

A short period of recovery and healing will be required after the neck lift and cheek lift. These surgeries cause slight post-surgical swelling and bruising that can fade in a few days to a few weeks depending on a number of factors. Once the swelling fades, the patient will be left with a rejuvenated look.
