Gynecomastia vs. Pseudogynecomastia

Published on March 16, 2017

Gynecomastia is a common condition among men of all ages. This condition produces enlarged male breasts that can significantly diminish the masculine qualities of your physique.

Enlarged male breasts can be the result of either gynecomastia or pseudogynecomastia. When excess fatty tissue creates this enlarged appearance, this is pseudogynecomastia. When excess glandular tissue creates this appearance, this is gynecomastia.

Male breast reduction surgery is a suitable solution for either condition. With pseudogynecomastia, liposuction can be used to remove the fatty tissue. With gynecomastia, excision can be used to remove the glandular tissue. In many cases, a combination of techniques must be used.
