Dr. Jeffords was asked to write an article on the passing of Dr. Lois Beach in the Lee University Torch, the alumni magazine. Dr. Beach founded the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Lee University that ultimately produced thousands of graduates and hundreds of doctors. Dr. Beach and her family was especially close to Dr. Jeffords. While a student at Lee, Dr. Jeffords worked in Dr. Beach's lab. He developed a long standing friendship with his mentor that continued to her death. The editor of the Torch Magazine personally asked Dr. Jeffords to write a tribute to this amazing lady.
