Nasal Surgery Conveniently located to serve Atlanta and Fulton

Plastic surgeon Dr. Keith Jeffords offers nasal surgery in Atlanta for patients who are unhappy with the size, shape, or overall appearance of their nose.

Nasal surgery is one of the most common plastic surgical procedures for young adults. Its technical name is rhinoplasty, which derives from the Latin words for nose and remolding. It is also known as a nose job or nose reshaping surgery.

Rhinoplasty is performed for many reasons. Some patients have been given a prominent nose by genetics, while others have had nose issues from trauma.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is the shaping of the external cartilage and bone. Commonly performed procedures on the visible nose are hump reductions, tip reductions, nostril reductions, and shortening procedures. Nose surgery is an outpatient procedure.

Am I a Good Nasal Surgery Candidate?

Anyone who has issues with the look and/or functionality of their nose is a good candidate for nasal surgery. Non-smokers are preferred, since smoking negatively affects the health of the skin.

The best rhinoplasty candidates are patients who are in good overall health and who have realistic expectations. The better you understand your potential results, the more realistic your expectations will be. To this end, it is helpful to look over nasal surgery before and after photos.

Dr. Jeffords is so wonderful, he always makes me feel comfortable and answers any questions I have. His office staff are always friendly and greet me with a smile. I know when I visit his office it will always be a great experience.

Breathe Easier with Septoplasty

A septoplasty is the restructuring of the internal nose. If the septal cartilage is causing airway obstruction and breathing difficulties, insurance will pay for this procedure. It is not uncommon for a rhinoplasty and septoplasty to be performed at the same surgery.

What Is a Nose Job Like?

At the start of nasal surgery, anesthesia is administered in order to ensure that the patient does not experience pain or discomfort during the procedure.

Incisions are then created according to the rhinoplasty technique being performed. Open rhinoplasty involves an incision across the columella (the section of external skin between the nostrils). It allows the surgeon to lift the skin for greater access. Closed rhinoplasty involves incisions within the nostrils and is less invasive.

Once the chosen incision technique has been performed, Dr. Jeffords alters the underlying cartilage, bone, and/or soft tissue to achieve the patient’s desired results. Finally, the incisions are closed with sutures.

The Recovery Process

Proper healing after rhinoplasty requires carefully following the directions of Dr. Jeffords. This includes taking time off from work as directed, avoiding blowing your nose, and not taking part in any activities that could potentially cause nasal trauma.

Swelling and bruising are common following the rhinoplasty procedure. Swelling can take a fair amount of time to fully reduce, so patience is key.

Nasal Surgery Cost

While functional rhinoplasty is covered by medical insurance providers, cosmetic rhinoplasty is not. The exact techniques used during your procedure will help to determine nasal surgery cost. The price of rhinoplasty is also impacted by the time required to perform the surgery. Financing options for your nasal surgery include CareCredit and Prosper Healthcare Lending.
